How do you start each morning?
I love starting my day with a 20 minute meditation. This practice makes me feel centered and grounded, and sets my day in a positive mode.
What is your usual weekday breakfast?
It changes with the seasons. On cold days I tend to crave warm breakfast. Oatmeal topped with fruit, nuts and seeds is usually my go to. Otherwise I have a green smoothie. It is an easy way to sneak in dark leafy greens and nutrients. With the right combination of fruits and non dairy milk, the dark leafy greens go unnoticed in taste.
What is your favorite ‘breakfast on the go’ item?
Making a smoothie is my usual breakfast even when “on the go”. It does not have to be complicated or time consuming. If I am really strapped for time, I’ll usually grab a banana and a handful of nuts.
Is breakfast your most important meal of the day?
Yes. Absolutely. We sleep through the night “fasting” and we need to “break the fast” by eating breakfast in the morning.
Breakfast for dinner?
YES. Totally! Especially on days when I find myself working later into the night, the simplicity and ease of making a smoothie seems like the perfect choice for dinner. Frozen berries, banana, kale and almond milk are pretty much a staple in my home. That makes it nearly impossible to run out of ingredients for an über-delicious smoothie.
